for much of the country through the weekend. >>> want to bring in meteorologist alexandre steel in the cnn weather service and in winter white. what's coming up with the weather? >> it's almost a joke miguel. earlier today we talked about they canceled the polar bear plunge because it was too cold. how cold is it? the good news, the arctic air that's been the culprit for this cold is this trough with this arctic air. but that will push eastward and in its place a warm ridge of pressure. so this ridge of high pressure moves in, allow for the south lit flow of air and warmer temperatures. on the whole this week, temperatures about 20 degrees warmer than where they've been. indicative of this, right now it's 22 in chicago. by monday, it will be 44. indy 50 by monday and the access of that warmth pushes south and east. louisville, nashville, remember yesterday ensconced in freezing rain? 68 flirting with 70 on tuesday. and it even moves further still on wednesday in the south carolina area like columbia 79 flirting with 80 degrees. so in the world of the temperatures, certainly a big rebound.

"the new york times." plus the newest member of our cnn family jake tapper, anchor and chief washington correspondent. welcome to you all. jake tapper, first of all, welcome to the cnn family. as i think wolf blitzer told you earlier, you just have to work hard, keep your nose clean and let wolf deal with the work. that's what i tend to do. a fascinating day in many ways in washington as they have been a lot recently. the president seemed to me to be a man who realizes he probably hasn't achieved enough to guarantee his legacy whatever he sees that to be. he looked pretty determined, pretty up for a fight and laid out a radical plan as many are seeing that has been much more liberal than in the past. as if to say, right, this is me and i'm going to go for it. what was your reading of it? >> i think we have a different tone from president obama than we have in the past. there's an evolution of what he said in the democratic convention where he talked about there are no blue states, no red states, just the united states. a more assertive, bolder, if you will, version of that, except he is

verjee because just live on cnn international, telling us exactly what's going on there. she said that two fatalities in this crash. she said someone on the ground in a burning car had been taken to the hospital and she said it had really tied up traffic in that area. emergency in central london, you have a crane on top of a building and then you have a helicopter that crashes into it and what kind of -- just the spread of the flames and the damage on the ground. i'm told zane is with us now. you're there in london. you're reporting the story for me. you can tell me what the latest is from your vantage point? >> reporter: again, casualties, two dead and two people in hospital. and there was a dramatic scene where the london fire brigades were essentially saying that they basically had to pull someone from a burning car who is now in hospital. it's a dramatic morning here in l london. fire balls in a major commuter area. think of a major area in new york city or penn state shutting down. that's exactly what's happened. a helicopter crashed into a crane on a really, really tall buil

future? cnn's mary snowis joining us. what's the latest on her condition? >> wolf frk we haven't heard from her doctors since they let us know that she was making excellent progress. an expert in blood clots said if unrelated the clots could be serious but the fact that it's being addressed is a good sign. on the day when sect hillary clinton was supposed to be getting ready to go back to work, she spent another day at the hospital. doctors discovered a blood clot in the vein between the brain and skull behind the right ear. they say she did not suffer a stroke or neurological damage. a doctor not involved in secretary clinton's case has treated cases like hers and calls them rare. what does this mean for the future? >> i think her future is as good as her past. she should recover from this. will be treated with blood thinners. i can't say how long because i don't know all of the circumstances but certainly minimum of three to six month, may well could be longer. in some rare cases, could be lifelong but many patients are on blood thinners for life. she should recover fully and get bac
